pin for red wine shallot vinaigrette.

If you need a super simple salad dressing that you can make in minutes, you're in the right place! This red wine shallot vinaigrette has only 5 ingredients, and that's counting salt and pepper!

Just measure everything into a small jar, cover and shake. I'm sorry, but I really can't make it any simpler than that! 😁

Ingredients: extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, shallot, salt and pepper.

Ok so there's only one "prep" step involved, and that is for the shallot. I specifically use shallot for its unique flavor: a little bit garlic, a little bit onion.

I use a microplane to "mince" the shallot. Rather than trying to chop with a knife, the microplane creates perfectly shredded little pieces of shallot. It's kind of juicy, too. All this is perfect in a salad dressing, don't you think?

You'll notice the recipe card has a range to use for the shallot. I suggest you start with the lesser amount and see how you feel about the taste. You can always add a little bit more to taste.

Simply measure the ingredients into a small jar, add the minced shallot, then cover and shake.

You can use the vinaigrette dressing right away, or store in in the fridge until your salad is ready to be dressed. 😎

    Storage of your Homemade Vinaigrette

Typically, you should expect this vinaigrette to be good for 3 to 5 days. Which doesn't seem long, but you have to remember, you didn't add a long list of unpronounceable ingredients to act as preservatives.

It is for this reason that the recipe makes a small amount: less than a cup. It'll last you for a couple days, then you can just quickly shake up another batch.

As you refrigerate, the mixture will separate. Simply shake the jar vigorously to mix everything together again.

If the oils start to solidify, remove the jar from the fridge about 30 minutes before use, then shake to re-mix.
