Spinach and Spirulina Smoothie (with Chia Seeds)

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups almond milk
  • ¼ cup vanilla protein powder low carb
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
  • 2 cups baby spinach

Instructions
 

  • Pour almond milk into the blender jar. Add protein powder, chia seeds and spirulina.
    2 cups almond milk, ¼ cup vanilla protein powder, ¼ cup chia seeds, 1 teaspoon spirulina powder
  • Pulse the blender a few times to moisten and distribute the dry ingredients into the liquid.
  • Add the spinach to the blender and pulse a few times to begin breaking it up.
    2 cups baby spinach
  • You might need to stop the blender and stir a little to re-distribute the spinach.
  • Blend at high speed for about a minute, or until the mixture is smooth and uniform.

Notes

Nutrition estimates are assuming 2 servings per recipe, and are based upon using a standard protein powder. If you use a stevia-sweetened powder, the carbs will be reduced. Surprisingly, most of the carbs in this recipe come from the chia seeds, however they also have the most fiber so if you calculate net carbs they pretty much offset each other.
